History

Junior Cycle History students prepared posters on various topics. These two examples are focused on Michael Collins and Eamon de Valera. Students would show their work to the class and they would be put on notice boards in the school.
Transition year students create History PowerPoints on topics of their choice and present their findings to the class. Topics included the Egyptians, the GAA, Family Trees, their own ancestry and many more. This gave students a real feel for independent research which is a huge skill that they learn in Senior Cycle History.
In Senior Cycle, History students must create their own project on a topic of their choice. Students make drafts of their research and they get feedback from their teacher. They submit their projects in March of Leaving Certificate and this accounts to 20% of their final grade. Students learn about referencing, researching, analysing and other skills that help them prepare for life after school.
