Music at St. Marys
"If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music.I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music" - Albert Einstein.

Music forms a vibrant part of life at St. mary's. Not only is music part of the formal curriculum but also it plays a role in extra-curricular life.
Music is offered as an exam subject for both junior and leaving cert. Music technology (music and computers) can be taken as part of the leaving cert. exam if the student so wishes. Recorder is taught at first year level and may be examined as part of the junior cert if the student desires so. Solo and group playing and singing is encouraged at all levels as is traditional music performance.
Choir is offered to First Years and Transition Years and over the years various traditional music Groups and guitar groups have been formed. Students get an opportunity to perform at various school events the highlight of which is the annual School Musical produced by the Transition Years.
Workshops on ethnic music and song composition are on the Transition Year curriculum aswell as modules on music technology and keyboard skills.
Every year the Transition Year produce their own C.D.
